FAQ

What conditions do you treat virtually?
Pregnancy-related pain, Postpartum recovery such as Diastasis Recti and Pelvic Organ Prolapse, Incontinence, Cesarean preparation and recovery, Labor and Delivery strategies, Pre-operative strengthening and mobility, Post-surgical rehabilitation, general body pain or injury in the joints or muscles, and more....

Are virtual treatments as effective as in-person visits?
The short answer is "yes!" - exercises, stretches, and self release techniques are provided and reviewed via video with each patient and are all effective forms of treatment   Most often, when we ask the right questions and listen, the patient will tell us exactly what is going on.   I am able to perform an assessment via video as well.   If there are any concerns regarding your condition or if we feel you are not making progress without skilled manual therapy by a Physical Therapist, I will help arrange to get you exactly where you need to go for care.

Do I need to have just had a baby or currently pregnant for patient services?
No, women's health is my area of focus and specialized training, however, I have over 15 years experience working in various areas of rehabilitation.  I would be happy to consult with you on your area of pain and/or dysfunction.  You can arrange a free 10-minute video consultation to discuss if we would be a good fit for working together.

What are your rates?
10 minute consultation - free
60 minute evaluation - $80
30 minute follow-up - $40
15 minute check-in $20
Not sure what you need?   Did an injury just occur?  Does something feel wonky?   Let's schedule a free 10 minute consultation.   If virtual therapy is the right fit for you, we will schedule an evaluation and then go from there based on your plan.

Do you take insurance?
Virtual physical therapy services typically are not covered by insurances.   You can call your insurance company to ask about benefits, and Anchor Wellness will provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance if they reimburse for online therapy.

What do I need for virtual therapy?
You need a phone, tablet, laptop, or computer with sufficient internet to stream live video.   We will be using the service "Go To Meeting" for our chats. Please allow yourself a comfortable environment with appropriate clothing.  For example, you may not want to be showing me your squat ability in a coffee shop wearing your skinny jeans....

What should I expect during our chats?
Prior to your session, I will email you information on how to login at the time of our visit for our video chat.   If this is a full evaluation, you will receive some forms to fill out and send to me ahead of time so I can get a picture of what is going on before we even get started.   For the first part of your evaluation, I want to get to know you and what brings you to PT.  We will spend as much time as you need to discuss your pain and body issues, especially how this affects your life from day to day.   I will ask you lots of questions.  Then we perform an evaluation of how your body moves as well as your strength, posture, flexibility, and painful spots.  I'll cue you through movements to make by showing you first and then you'll replicate them.  Finally, we will talk about any we need to work on and form a plan on when to chat again.  You will be provided with a home program on this first visit where again, I'll demonstrate the moves and you'll replicate.  You'll be given video of these exercises as well.    Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in easily.  During follow-up sessions we will talk about how you're doing and then review exercises - making them easier or harder, perfecting form, or changing them altogether if needed.    The free consultation will simply be face to face chatting to determine if you need online services, should see a physical therapist in person, or should make an appointment with a different medical provider or doctor.

Do I need a referral from a physician to start physical therapy?
No, you do not need a prescription for virtual physical therapy services. For WV residents, there are no restrictions.  For CA residents, I am able to treat you without a physician referral for 12 visits or 45 days, whichever comes first. However, if you plan to submit your bill to your insurance, they may require a physician referral.  Please contact your insurance for more information.
